¡Leed! / Read!

(Please, find English translation at the end of the post)

On the occasion of the celebration of its 50th anniversary, the Billboard Turia invited me to work in the exhibition, among other acts, organized at the University of Valencia, providing a work which, within the one of  49 artists more and over the next two years, will be reproduced as the cover of the magazine. I was inspired by the old newspaper hawkers and posters of the CNT that during the spanish Republic, exhorted the people to read. The original drawing (charcoal on paper 100 x 70 cm) doesn’t include text, because it has to become a cover and include other titles. Also, because there is so much to scream and then, I did not want to limit the interpretations. However, I think I was wrong. I should have limited reading and include the text that appears in the reproductions I commercialize and summarize, for me, the greatest urgency, «Read» … Read… whatever but read! … If I could, I would stick a print in every school: if there are images of nurses with a finger in the mouth praying silence in hospitals, there should be some in the hallways of schools screaming, from sheer desperation, to boys, please to form themselves or otherwise, they will be razed.

(If you want to overwrite your own howl, I also accept commissions to personalize the poster: write me without obligation.)
