Few months ago, the German company STILNEST offered me to produce an exclusive design for them that could be part of my collection of text necklaces and printed in 3D … Yes! (as in spanish saying: «hunger came together with the desire to eat»):  I’m always interested in reproduction mediums and new printers were noted in giant in my board; I was glad Stilnest ease as much for me the experiment. My necklaces (which can be purchased online and in Valencia, exclusively on Set Espai d’Art Gallery) are not the product of 3D printing, but they already have «body» (3 mm polymer laser cutted). I wanted to do something different, which could allow me to improve possibilities of the three-dimensionality, so I ended drawing first, and personally modeling in Blender 3D the bracelet I introduce here.

The one I imagined was very simple, sober but yet full of references: reminiscent of a tattoo text, typography and classic literary ornaments (the closure tape, leaves) for such an old legend as latin is, and so unquestionable as day and night, or our own life experience. Anyway, I’m pretty happy with the result: the bracelet (the same design can be ordered adapted to ring) is flexible and keeps all the tiny details.

Now I finally can touch what I modeled virtually -process is fun: seems like magic-, what I like the most is the shadow that bracelet casts. «There is no light without shadow», yes… but nevertheless I didn’t count on it (I am extremely clueless for many things); I didn’t imagined, yet I think now that shadow is the most beautiful detail on the bracelet. It adds the value of making real, or at least perceptible, the meaning of the legend that I chose. Again, as always, it couldn’t be otherwise, the way of the process involves luck, not calculated. And I don’t know how to explain that this is exactly what is «extraordinary» in my job and, when it happens, one feels at the time, the luckiest and also the most humble mortal.

Looking now at photographs, I can’t stop imagining same piece iron melted in a scale of ¿7 m? height … I hope not to seem arrogant if, immediately afterwards, I can’t stop thinking about R. Serra and C. Iglesias, artists that I admire, and what an amateur sculptor as me, could achieve with means. I know that it is often argued in that sense that what distinguishes dilettantes from serious artists is something like a previous awareness of the  final goal, a project of significance for which their talent or expertise ensures proper signifier. However, at least me, I can’t conceive and enjoy my job but as a succession of adventures, roads through it is especially easy to get lost, and where I never know the end. We can only relate what happened and put a title when it’s finished.
Recently, I discovered another new value: if you tan at sun with the bracelet on your arm, you will get a nice negative tattoo … ephemeral and totally natural … Check by yourself:

The same design also can be ordered in a ring shape and there’s plenty of printing options as  polymer white, black, or silver plated or gold. Sales page and all options at:stilnest_bildmarke_signatur
